Serving Others
Being a disciple of Jesus means using what we have to serve others. Jesus Himself is our model for serving others (John 13:1-17 ) and taught us that true greatness is being a servant (Matthew 20:26-28 ). To be the best servant, everyone should discover the unique SHAPE in which God has created them. Rick Warren coined the term SHAPE to include our spiritual gifts, heart, abilities, personality and experiences (Romans 12:3-8 ; 1 Corinthians 12:3-23 ). As Peter writes,
Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms. 1 Peter 4:10-11
Then we can better serve others with all our heart.
